Lani and Eli knew that there were complications with her pregnancy on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), but they never expected it to end like this.
According to published reports, Lani (Sal Stowers) goes through another scare and it’s JJ (Casey Moss), the man who thought he was the father of her baby, who gets her to the hospital.
Things don’t look good and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) lets the expectant parents know that she will need to deliver the baby prematurely.
She prepares her for a C-section, and Eli (Lamon Archey), the baby’s real father, is on hand to lend his support. When he hears there’s a risk for the baby, he tries to stay positive but his family descending on the hospital complicates things. And, then the worst happens.
The pairs learns that baby has died and it hits Eli hard. He was the one trying to remain optimistic and believe that everything would be okay so when his child dies, it flattens him. Even worse, Lani has to be told and Eli believes as the father, he should be the one to do it.

Where this will lead Lani and Eli is anyone’s guess. After all, it’s not like they were a solid couple ever during this whole process. She was in love with JJ and he was in love with Gabi (Camila Banus) when they got together.
The loss of a child is hard on the strongest of couples. For these two, it could send them spiraling apart. Then again, it could be a pain that bonds them together from which they can start fresh and support each other. Time will tell whether or not they will come out on the other side of this a stronger couple.
