The last we heard from Sami on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), she had skipped Salem with the DiMera fortune and then deposited it in half-sister Belle’s bank account.
Of course, the money debacle happened while Sami was off-screen, so Alison Sweeney had no idea what happened in the nearly two years since she’d been on the DAYS set. While she can’t reveal her new story, she does give a little hint in the May 1 issue of Soap Opera Digest.
“I found out from someone Sami has quite a bit of money…and I think someone told me there was something with Belle, like Belle gave the money back? That’s not cool. I’ll have to deal with that.”
Unlike Sweeney’s last return when Sami was mainly around to mourn Will, her firstborn son who had just been murdered by The Necktie Killer, Sami will show her usual scheming side this time–a side that made her a fan-favorite for more than two decades.

“When I was talking about coming back, I really wanted to stress that that I feel there are parts about Sami that the fans really miss,” she told Digest. “I know because they tweet me and they post on my Instagram and Facebook page every day.
“So, I wanted to emphasize that that’s what I would want to come back for, is to give the fans that feisty, trouble-making, pot-stirring Sami they missed.”
While this visit won’t be nearly as brief as 2015 where we only saw Sami and Sweeney for a handful of episodes, it won’t be a permanent stay. However, Sweeney said she has no problem with more return engagements as long as this stint works out well.
