It feels like forever since we learned Chandler Massey would be returning to his Emmy-winning role of Will Horton on Days of Our Lives (DOOL), but it looks like next week he finally arrives.
However, does he arrive in the flesh, or is his first appearance a ghostly one? A photo in the September 18 issue of Soap Opera Digest shows Lucas spotting his son in an empty church, but there could be an aura around him.
We do know that Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) spirals more out of control and further into alcoholic despair over the thought of both losing Adrienne (Judi Evans), and Sonny (Freddie Smith) moving on with Paul–and without Will.
All he can think about is his dead son and that son’s husband finding happiness again when Will won’t.
Does that cause Lucas to conjure up Will’s spirit as he stands in the church thinking about the double wedding that’s soon to take place?

Or, does Will really arrive and put a wrench in Sonny and Paul’s wedding bliss plans? Chandler Massey tweeted last week that he believes his first airdate is September 15, and that’s just a little over a week away.
Oh, what a delightful Friday cliffhanger that would be if Lucas sees his beloved son and the audience–like Lucas–has no idea if he’s the real deal or not.
And, will anyone believe Lucas if he says he saw Will ,considering his permanent inebriated state of late?
