On the June 11 episode of Days of our Lives, Lexie sobbed that it looked like she’ll be dying — again. EJ swore that he would do anything in his power to prevent that. But if Dr. Rolf can’t make it happen, what options does EJ think he has? Lexie has only just reunited with her husband, Abe, and son Theo. If she’s just going to die for real this time, we have to wonder: What was the point of this whole story?
Key Takeaways
- Lexie was only recently brought back to life.
- Lexie may have only a few weeks left to live.
- Why start and end a story so quickly?
Baby, I’m Back
Lexie (Nikki Crawford) was presumed dead for 15 years. Her “widower” Abe (James Reynolds) went on with his life, remarrying Paulina (Jackée Harry). Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) grew up without his mom. When Lexie returned, miraculously un-dead, Theo was forced to keep the secret from his dad for weeks. Once it finally came out, Paulina graciously bowed out so that Abe could reunite his original family. Lexie and Abe are still slightly awkward around each other, but they are both trying to make it work.
End of the Road
Except now, Lexie’s hand has started shaking. This led Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) to conclude that she will soon be as dead as the rodent Rolf treated with the same drug. Lexie is upset. EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) is upset. Soon, Abe and Theo will be very upset if and when they find out. We are also very upset. Not just because we might be losing Lexie, but because we’re wondering why this storyline was so rushed?
Burning Questions
Why bring Lexie back only to kill her off again within a period of weeks? Where is the drama in this? Where is the conflict? Where is the story of Lexie and Abe trying to recreate the magic of their early days? Where is the angst of Abe and Paulina still being in love, but both unable to say so, out of respect for Lexie? Where is the drama of Theo having his mother back and potentially losing her just as quickly? Why this whiplash? What was this story supposed to be about?
