On the July 2 episode of Days of our Lives, EJ was upset to find out that Holly might die if her arsenic poisoning went untreated. But he was even more upset to learn that the inadvertent poisoning was all DiMera’s fault. EJ was really, really upset, though, when he realized that Brady and Sarah had a sample of the Smith Island well water. Which means they could blame EJ directly for the mishap. EJ is not a man who gives up easily. What if he has a solution at his fingertips that will solve all of his problems in one fell swoop?

Key Takeaways

  • Holly is a threat to EJ.
  • Holly is a known liar, especially about drugs.
  • EJ could take advantage of that.

Problem Child

Holly (Ashley Puzemis) is lying sick in a hospital bed, while Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) worries to Brady (Eric Martsolf) that if they don’t figure out what’s wrong with her, they won’t know how to treat her. EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) knows what’s wrong with Holly. She drank the Horton well water on Smith Island. Well water that was tainted with arsenic after DiMera Pharmaceuticals dumped a bad batch of Coriseal there. EJ needs to cover that up. Good thing Holly has lied about taking drugs in the past.

Clear Conscience

Remember when Holly lied for literally months about how she got the drugs for her New Year’s Eve overdose? Tate (Leo Howard) was sentenced to juvenile hall because Nicole (Arianne Zucker) blamed him. Holly knew it. But Holly kept mum. Because Holly cared more about herself than the boy she supposedly loved. Now would be an excellent time for EJ to remind everyone of that. And to make it look like Holly is lying again.

Shifting the Blame

EJ doesn’t want Holly to die, though. So he needs a way to let Sarah know that Holly has arsenic poisoning. Oh, look! another scapegoat! Holly freaked out when she got flowers from Amy (Shi Ne Nielson). And EJ knows that Amy is suing Holly. Holly went to EJ for legal advice. So to kill two birds with one stone, EJ can set up Amy as having poisoned Holly’s medication — in an homage to what Sophia (Rachel Boyd) did to her, first — and Holly for having taken the drugs voluntarily… and lied about it. Holly gets treated, Amy gets blamed, and DiMera gets away scot-free. That’s the EJ way!
