The Man I Used To Be
EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) spent several years wrapped up like a mummy, recovering from his burns. Sami (Alison Sweeney) spent some time sitting by his bedside. But so did Cat (AnnaLynne McCord), apparently. EJ remembers some of it. He recalls her reading to him from “Wuthering Heights,” a classic book about the most abusive, dysfunctional, “romantic” relationship ever. Maybe he should take that as a hint. But EJ is not the kind of man who leaves well enough alone. He wants to remember everything. And he’s gambling that Marlena (Deidre Hall) can suss it out of his repressed memories.
The Other Party
Cat claims she doesn’t remember much either. She had her own case of amnesia at the time. At least, that’s what she says. But Cat has lied before. A lot. So why should we believe she’s telling the truth now? Cat could well know exactly what went on between her and EJ. And she might be either trying to hide it. Or she might be waiting for just the right moment to spring the truth on him. Marlena might get in the way of that plan.
Third Wheel
And then there’s Marlena. She has strong feelings about how EJ treated Sami and, later, Belle (Martha Madison). If she’s going to be poking around in EJ’s psyche, could she plant some suggestions while she’s in there? Like, to get him to stay away from her daughters? Or for him to change his entire life? What if EJ, whose need for control is crossing into dangerous territory, says one thing under hypnosis, but Marlena lies and claims it’s something else? Except that Cat will know the real truth. Now we’ve got a soapy story!
