Orpheus's Revenge Is Almost Complete As Marlena Evans Appears To Die

On today’s Days of our Lives, Marlena Evans is taken on a nostalgic tour that seemingly finishes at the Pearly Gates.

In addition to Marlena’s probably passing, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk) found her efforts to get away with literally everything stymied, a pair of former marrieds got too close for comfort, and Brady (Eric Martsolf) found himself at the mercy of his terribly behaved, never before disciplined daughter. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what exactly happened.

Though he couldn’t bring himself to honor her final wish and actually take her home to die, John Black (Drake Hogestyn) did arrange a change of scenery for his grievously ill missus.

Away from Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) sickbed, the two trudged, and up to the roof of the hospital they headed. There, they discovered a magnificent setup courtesy of Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) replete with a Bluetooth projector connected to John’s cloud account.

After snuggling up and sharing one cream-covered strawberry — which proved to be about all Marlena could muster — the couple delighted in a slideshow dedicated to their epic love affair.

There were snaps from their 1986 wedding, back when they were under the impression that John was Roman Brady. Ditto their 1999, and 2018 ceremonies. Pictures of them surrounded by loved ones — yes, even Sami (Alison Sweeney). Candid shots. Couples’ portraits. Several images that looked like they came straight from a TV show’s publicity office. Hmmm.

After deciding that, yes, they’d both do it all over again just to have the pleasure of being with each other, Marlena seemed to shuffle off her mortal coil wrapped up in John’s comforting embrace. Sniffle.

DOOL Recap: Blame Game

If she’s going to go down, Kristen intends to go down swinging…at least that’s the plan right up until the moment that she calls EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) leveling threats and he calls her bluff. In fact, not only does EJ call Kristen’s bluff, he flat-out admits to Stefan DiMera (Brandon Barash) that he knew all about the conditioning that Dr. Wilhelm Rolf subjected him to and said nothing.

Stefan appreciated his brother’s honesty…or so it seemed. Stefan promised that he could find it in his heart to forgive EJ on the proviso that they oust Li Shin from DiMera Enterprises and rule the roost together, but it was a big ole lie. He has no intention of letting EJ off the hook. He’s going to make EJ pay. Scratch that, he’s going to make EJ pay dearly. And he’s going to enjoy every second of it.

Opposite the above, wee terror Rachel threw a fit when she caught Brady hugging Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) and insisted the woman unhand her father. How dare Chloe be there, railed Rachel. Especially in light of the fact that Kristen is only in her current predicament because of Chloe. Rachel hates Chloe. HATES HER! She’ll make sure that the bad lady pays for making her mommy suffer.

Brady apologizes for Rachel’s rudeness and Chloe is very understanding. After all, the little girl just learned that Kristen was going to spend quite a few more years behind bars…or is she?

If Kristen can help it, she’s going to be back amongst the free populace in no time. Then again, she doesn’t exactly relish the idea of being a rat. But Rafe really wants to get Li, so Kristen may just roll…over him.

Johnny DiMera and Chanel Dupree Get Awfully Chummy

There’s nothing that brings people together like arranging a surprise for a dying woman, a fact that Johnny and Chanel quickly discovered. Turns out the old feelings that they once felt for one another are still there, barely below the surface. And they began to boil. Soon they’ll be on the surface and the two will be acting upon them. Until then, they resolve to stay good friends. Yes, just friends.
