In the October 28 episode of Days of our Lives, EJ finally said everything to Johnny that’s needed to be said for literally years. Johnny sputtered back, but his words sounded rehearsed, and like he was trying to convince himself more than EJ. This is the kind of family drama soaps are so good at doing!
Key Takeaways:
- EJ told Johnny everything that was wrong with him
- Johnny pushed back by insisting he was the better man
- EJ cut the cord with his son for good
EJ Tells Johnny Like It Is
After putting up with Johnny (Carson Boatman) taking his money and enjoying the perks that come with running the family company, while bad-mouthing him every chance he gets, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) finally had enough. EJ told Johnny that his son was spoiled, hypocritical, and, quite frankly, not very good at much of anything.
If Johnny didn’t appreciate what he’d been given, if Johnny insisted on having everything both ways, saying that the way DiMera makes money is bad but having DiMera money is good, then EJ would make the double life easier for his baby boy. Johnny won’t be hearing from him again.
Johnny Stands His Ground
Johnny did his best to fight back. He huffed, and he puffed, and he said, “Oh, yeah? Well, I’m a better man than you are! My wife loves me, and my kids love me, and they would never turn on me like I have on you because I am also the best dad ever, not like you, you know?”
He tried to sound convincing. Johnny sounded more like he was saying what he wished was true, rather than what he knew to be true.
The Good Stuff Soaps Are Made Of
EJ listened to Johnny, and then he left. If his son wasn’t going to listen, there was no need for EJ to keep talking. Johnny said what he wanted and cut his father ouf of his life.
There was nothing more for them to say, not even goodbye. The scene of family strife was exactly what we watch soaps for, and DAYS delivered!
