On the October 27 episode of Days of our Lives, former wannabe nuns Lani and Kristen reunited and, despite having a lot to catch up on — not all of it legal — were able to reaffirm their bond. Soaps don’t spend much time on women’s friendships, which is why we’re delighted when they do.

Key Takeaways

  • Kristen reunites with Lani while hiding from the consequences of her actions against Johnny.
  • Lani, on the verge of becoming a cop again, offers Kristen compassion instead of judgment.
  • Lani and Kristen’s reunion highlights the importance of female friendships on DAYS.

Kristen Confides in Lani, but There’s a Catch

When Brady (Eric Martsolf) found out what Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) did to Johnny (Carson Boatman), he forbade her from being around Rachel (Lorelei Olivia Mote). Kristen thought she had nothing left… until she ran into Lani (Sal Stowers).

Thrilled to be reunited with her bestie, Kristen told Lani everything. Why she left, why she’s back, why she’s missing Rachel. And once she paused to take a breath, Lani dropped, “So, uhm, hey, did I mention I’m a cop again?” Not yet. And not officially. So it’s OK. She doesn’t have to turn Kristen in. Yet.

Lani Gives Kristen the Grace Others Won’t

But while Lani doesn’t have to arrest Kristen, she can still have a human reaction to what her friend has done. Lani wasn’t thrilled. But she did her best to see the situation from Kristen’s point of view.

Once she did that, she was even able to tell Kristen that she’d already paid for her crimes. She was being kept from Rachel. That’s enough punishment. The two parted on warm terms.

Lani and Kristen’s Morals May Be Messy, but Their Bond Is Real

Soaps spend so much time on romantic relationships that friendships tend to fall by the wayside. (Or turn into something toxic, like when Leo [Greg Rikaart] was sleeping with BFF Gwen’s [Emily O’Brien] husband.) That’s why, even though their morals may have been a bit skewed, it was still nice to see Lani supporting Kristen. Girl power!
