In the Days of our Lives recap for September 20, 2023, Wendy blows up Ava’s plot to save his mother…not that EJ gives too much credence to what an ex-DiMera Enterprises employee has to say.
Days of our Lives Recap Highlights
In addition, Talia made quite the confession to Jada, Tripp betrayed his mother’s trust, Ava and Harris grew ever closer, and Shawn resolved to finally do some work on himself. Now, let’s dig a little deeper into what happened.
Days of our Lives Recap: Over Time
At DiMera Enterprises, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) took great pleasure in revealing that Wendy (Victoria Grace) had fallen right into his trap. Of course, he hadn’t forgotten his phone, he left it in the office hoping she’d snatch it up and prove his suspicions about her correct.
After trying and failing to play coy, Wendy decided to lay her cards on the table and ‘fess up. Unfortunately, she couldn’t convince EJ to do the same. No matter how hard she tried — and boy did Wendy try — she couldn’t elicit a confession to the hiring of Joyce to off Ava (Tamara Braun).

Still, Wendy had a trump card — or what she thought was a trump card — namely Ava’s insistence that Susan (Stacy Haiduk) was alive and well. EJ refused to entertain the notion. It was just too coincidental to him that Ava would suddenly remember all these months later. As for Wendy and her impertinence, she was FIRED!
Opposite this, with Rafe (Galen Gering) threatening to sic Melinda Trask (Tina Huang) on his lady love, Tripp (Lucas Adams) admitted that Ava and Harris (Steve Burton) were in London and on the hunt for Susan.
DAYS Recap: Protection Mode
Meanwhile, in London, despite Ava’s offer that the two of them could hunker down in the same bed, Harris balked, insisting as he did that he’d be perfectly comfortable on the nearby chair. Besides, the prospect made him nostalgic for the submarine racks of old.
When the Sandman failed to pay a visit, Ava regaled Harris with the tale of her and Jake’s (Brandon Barash) tragic love story and how she’d pulled the incredibly stupid move of pretending to be his wife in order to facilitate Gabi’s (Camila Banus) rise to power at DE. Much to Ava’s relief, Harris reiterated his commitment to helping her in any way that he could. Soon the two were slumbering, him in his chair, her on the comfortable mattress, holding each other’s hand.
DOOL Recap: Sister Act
Back in Salem, Talia (Aketra Sevillian) hedged when Jada (Elia Cantu) demanded a straight answer — did she, or did she not, sleep with Shawn Brady (Brandon Beemer)? Talia eventually confirmed her sister’s suspicions, and Jada judgmentally wondered what the Hell she’d been thinking. After all, Shawn’s married to the woman who saved Talia’s behind.
Talia cried about how she’d been in a bad place after getting dumped by Chanel (Raven Bowens) and that she was just clearly falling back into old, destructive patterns — making a terrible decision, and hurting good people.
She also apologized for continually disappointing Jada and making her ashamed, prompting Jada to swear that she’s never either one of those things — not really.
Days of our Lives Recap: The Jury Is Out
At the town square, Belle (Martha Madison) asked Shawn to tell her where he’d slept last night, and he admitted to crashing in Jada’s room even as he sidestepped sharing said room with Talia.
Shawn gave her an apology and claimed that he didn’t deserve Belle or her love. Belle granted that they’d both made serious mistakes in their relationship, then admitted that she wasn’t at all sure where they go from there.
Shawn made a big show of agreeing to go to an A.A. meeting and begged Belle to join him; she happily agreed. Before the spouses could get going, an awkward run-in with Talia was in the cards.
