Popular Days of our Lives hero Bo Brady dealt with some scary situations in his time, but maybe nothing as frightening as his portrayer Peter Reckell faces in Permanent Resident, a new short film he now stars in, which is available below.
Peter Reckell: A Whole New Role
Written and directed by his wife, Kelly Moneymaker, Reckell plays Jack Wilson in the three-minute video, a man tormented by an unwanted guest in his home during COVID-19 lockdown.
The film was made as part of 48Hours, a guerrilla filmmaking competition in New Zealand where filmmakers have just one weekend to create a project. Filmmakers are unaware of what genre they will be shooting until the start of the competition.
“Our 48 Hours film made exactly in 48 hours,” Moneymaker tweeted to fans, alerting them to Reckell’s latest acting gig.
Permanent Resident begins as many thrillers do, with eerie music playing over the title card. The opening scene shows Reckell’s character sleeping when an ominous voice of a child screams, “Get out of my house.”
Without giving anything major away, what follows are creaky doors, banging, and some suspenseful moments as he creeps around his house. The next day, while he’s brushing his teeth during “Day 24 of sheltering in place,” the character seems to write it all off to a dream, but then, more spookiness ensues.
Who is the mystery child? Is Reckell’s character in danger? Will Hope come to his rescue? Check out the video to find out. Reckell’s daughter “Lolo” also stars in the film.
While fans want nothing more than to see Reckell back on DAYS and have Bo return from the grave, this is at least a chance to see their favorite hero back on their screens. And there may be more to come, according to Moneymaker.
“Yes, we might do a few more of these,” she tweeted. “It’s really fun making family movies!! Maybe Dodger will join us on the next one.” Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
