Belle needs to remember she is hella suspicious of EJ. After all, she knows he’s coming after her job. Of course, when faced with Shawn’s accusations and resentment, she instantly takes the opposing argument. But doing this in the Friday, February 21 episode of Days of Our Lives wasn’t a good look.

Belle Vs. Shawn

Friday’s episode was productive. Adult Rachel (Ros Gentle), the Woman in White, was arrested. A freed Ava (Tamara Braun) revealed Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) and EJ’s culpability in her kidnapping. Also, Rafe (Galen Gering) freed himself, but he’s not out of the woods yet. He had to deal with EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), who was close to injecting him with CRS-17, Dr. Rolf’s (Richard Wharton) short-term memory-erasing drug. Meanwhile, Javi (Al Calderon) finally told Jada (Elia Cantu) about “Rafe” (Galen Gering) sleeping with the exotic dancer, which left Jada devastated and looking for comfort in Shawn’s muscled arms.

Belle (Martha Madison) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) added their own special brand of chaos to the mix. Their amicable divorce took a turn, and it was all because of EJ DiMera. Shawn immediately set a tone when Belle walked into the precinct. He formalized their interaction, calling her “District Attorney Black,” and there was that finger he held up in the air, letting her know they would start talking on his terms.

Shawn was on a tear and came off a bit harsh, resentful, and self-righteous. It’s just that now that they’re divorced, Belle doesn’t want or need his two cents. Having said that, the district attorney would do well to listen to his words. Her ex-husband made sense.

Part of this felt like Belle defended EJ’s presumed innocence just to spite Shawn. But, come on, Belle. EJ’s suspicious in every way. Of course, he manufactured evidence that showed Jada the corrupt cop. It’s exactly his kind of move. Plus, he already confessed to Belle that he wanted his job back. How do you think he would make that happen?

Shawn called Belle a bad friend and a bad sister, for that matter. Aligning herself with EJ — even personally — was a bad look considering that, at the very least, she knew that EJ hired “Rafe” to dig up dirt on Jada. She may not know how much EJ actually rigged the game, but she does know that.

Now, Ava has told Brady (Eric Martsolf) that EJ knew about Ava’s captivity. When Belle finds out, she will probably feel a bit stupid. Each one of his subsequent crimes she finds out about will undoubtedly make her angrier and angrier that she chose to believe in EJ’s innocence. EJ better shoot Rafe up with that memory-erasing drug because Belle’s quickly making a case for being a suspect in EJ’s upcoming shooting.
