NBCUniversal/Peacock held a star studded-mixer at The Langham Huntington Hotel in Pasadena, Calif., as part of the Winter TV Critics press tour. Soap Hub was on the scene and chatted exclusively with Michael Sluchan, EVP, Current Scripted Programming & Limited Series, NBC/Peacock (and many of the other programming branches of NBCUniversal), to get an update on Days of our Lives as the show prepares to hit a major milestone.
Michael Sluchan: DAYS’s 60th Is Coming
“We are thrilled with the performance,” Sluchan tells Soap Hub about DAYS’s presence on the company’s streaming platform, Peacock. The exec acknowledges that asking DAYS’s diehard fanbase to switch to a new way of watching was asking a lot, “but the viewers really did show up, and they moved over to Peacock. [The show] continues to be a top performer, and we’re very much behind DAYS.
“DAYS fans turn out,” he enthuses. “They are so incredibly supportive of the show through all the ups and downs. We’re doing our best to honor the show’s legacy. We have such support from the show — all departments, publicity, marketing, and we have such a great cast. This [move] was a big change for them after 57 years, coming over to this new platform.”

In November, DAYS’s 60th anniversary season commences. “We tape so far ahead that we’re shooting into our 60th season already,” Sluchan shares. “We’ve already heard some of the storylines for that, and we are energized. Ron [Carlivati, head writer] has some exciting stories coming up. There’s both forward-thinking, and [our anniversary] will also harken back to classic DAYS, as well.”
