Days of Our Lives almost always goes all out for Valentine’s Day. This year, the show gave us all different types of love. The day also brought a little drama, but in the end, a new avenue possibly opened up for a couple marking their first Valentineversary.

Love, Roses, and Flashbacks

Tate (Leo Howard) kicked things off strong with Holly (Ashley Puzemis) bringing her flowers and chocolate. Of course, it all took a turn when Sophia (Rachel Boyd) had a pregnancy scare. Then, Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) held up by surprising him. Meanwhile, Holly made her way out to the Horton Cabin, where she ended up face-to-face — in her lingerie — with Doug III (Peyton Meyer).

Meanwhile, this was Johnny and Chanel’s first Valentine’s Day and Anniversary combo. Johnny made a romantic breakfast in bed for his wife. However, they were ultimately disappointed when they visited Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) to find out if they could try to get pregnant again. Unfortunately, the doctor advised them to wait a few more months.

This was Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) first Valentine’s Day without the love of her life. She stared at an iconic photo of them, loving and grieving what she no longer had. The Doug (the late Bill Hayes) and Julie flashbacks were wonderful. When Doug III presented her with red roses, she told him stories of happy times and dropped some knowledge like Doug’s Place and Julie’s Place.

Finally, Steve (Stephen Nichols), with help from Stephanie (Abigail Klein), surprised Kayla. They are the other couple who celebrated a Valentineversary. Kayla was so upset when she thought Steve had forgotten about the anniversary component of the big day. But, of course, he had her fooled; what transpired was sweet(ness) and romantic. Plus, he flashed back to the chattering teeth Valentine’s gift he had given Kayla back in the day.

The Drama

A miracle happened. Sophia’s pregnancy scare showed her mother, Amy (Shi Ne Nielson), that Sophia and Tate cared about their baby. They cared enough to want the best for the baby. She finally listened to them talk about their desire to find the perfect couple to adopt the baby. Of course, Amy has to approve of the couple. Something tells us that’s going to be easier said than done.

Again, Johnny and Chanel were disappointed to hear that they weren’t able to try to have a baby yet. As expected, when Tate told them that Mrs. Choi approved of the adoption, Johnny and Chanel looked each other in the eye and silently made a decision. They’re going to want to adopt. After all, they want a baby as soon as possible.

Finally, Julie told Doug III, “Not all the days of our lives bring roses.” Thanks to Doug’s grandson, this one brought her a bouquet of roses. However, tough days are ahead. In addition to grieving the life she had with her amazing husband, Doug III still has to tell her that he stole the necklace.
