It’s a Salem miracle — Marlena finally came out of the coma that seemed ready to kill her on Days of Our Lives — but that doesn’t mean she’s out of the woods.
Apparently, the thought of her beloved John (Drake Hogestyn) having to marry Hattie (Deidre Hall) was enough to bring Marlena back to the land of the living. And it’s a good thing too because John was just trapped by Hattie into signing a new marriage license.
After all, Hattie is determined to not be sent back to prison once John, Roman (Josh Taylor), and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) are done with her.
Of course, we can’t help but wonder how Abe (James Reynolds) will react when he has to sign that marriage license and finds Hattie’s name instead of Marlenas — but Hattie probably didn’t think that far ahead.
Though we have to give it to her for somehow getting that new marriage license while stuck in a hospital bed. Considering she has no credit card or any other way to pay for it if was delivered to her but let’s not split hairs.
More than likely, that won’t even matter now that Marlena is pretty much back. Unfortunately, Kristen is right there, ready to finish the job. The writers have done a great job amping up the tension and crafting this epic showdown — not between a barely with-it Marlena but rather between Sami and Kristen.

Sami’s on her way, trying to find Kristen. Wouldn’t it be a wonderful bit of redemption if, after seemingly shooting her mother, she is the one to finally save her! Sami needs to get the upper hand with Kristen so that she can finally get her to spill about EJ.
But Stefan (Tyler Christopher) has been an interesting addition to this story. Christopher and Sweeney had great chemistry in their few scenes together at the DiMera mansion. Here’s hoping we’ll see be many more between them before Sweeney’s latest return comes to an end.
As for Marlena and Kristen, there’s bound to be a much better showdown someday in the near future — once Marlena can hold her own. And THAT will be must-see viewing!
