It’s been nearly five months since we last saw John Black in Salem, but we knew his Days of Our Lives (DOOL) disappearance was coming.
Last May, Hogestyn suffered a head injury during a scene stunt in which John ran head first into a door. Hogestyn was rushed to the hospital and spent months recovering from his injury at home, but returned to the set last fall.
As of yesterday, the actor’s name made its way back onto the DAYS credits and the Jason47 DAYS website reports that John appears in Marlena’s dreams soon.
There’s been little explanation for John’s disappearance on screen and it’s been assumed he’s off working on a case.

John’s absence was the excuse the show used to send Paul to Prague to “protect” Marlena during the “Shane In A Stefano Mask” caper, but otherwise we haven’t heard much about the character.
(And, as if Marlena of all characters can’t take care of herself. A little sexism there, DAYS?)
The timeline of when Hogestyn returned to work, combined with the show credits, and Marlena’s upcoming dream all indicate John Black is about to make his triumphant Salem return.
