It’s a little early for Valentine’s Day, but love is in the air for Days of Our Lives star Jen Lilley, beloved as Salem’s Theresa. The fan favorite is set to star in a new Hallmark Channel movie, Winter Love Story, opposite Kevin McGarry (Heartland).
Winter Love Story debuts on Saturday, January 19 at 8 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel. Lilley plays author Cassie Winslett who’s great at writing books, but a little unsure of herself when it comes to promoting them.
So her publisher pairs Cassie with charming writer Elliot Somersby, played by McGrarry, to help her grow more comfortable at signings.
Elliot has quite a list of demands for the book tour, but Cassie discovers not to judge a book by its cover. In fact, Elliot’s first impression is far from all negative.
“While he’s outwardly easy on the eyes,” Lilley tells Soap Hub, “Cassie is impressed by [his] razor sharp wit, his love of dogs, storytelling and character exploration.”
While some Hallmark movies set in the winter are shot in the summer (and vice versa), there was no acting required to bring to life this winter setting!
“It was absolutely freezing,” Lilley recalls of the climate during production, noting the temperature could be as low as “-23 below [Fahrenheit] and constantly snowing.”

Might art imitate life someday to where Lilley would also become an author? “I have dabbled in children’s book writing and intend to pursue that again later in life,” she reveals. “For now, I’m going to keep plugging away at acting, singing, and [being active with] foster care.”
The good news for the DAYS fans is that Lilley says a return to Salem is not out of the question.
“I am certainly open to it,” she says. “I love Theresa and I adore the DAYS cast and crew. However, as a fan of DAYS myself, I would only want to return if it served the overall story of all the staple characters.”
Winter Love Story airs Saturday, January 19 at 8 p.m. on the Hallmark Channel.
