Fan-favorite Jaime Lyn Bauer (Laura) is returning to Days of our Lives. The actress posted on social media that she’ll be back in Salem next month! Bauer also detailed in her report what it’s like working in a COVID-19 world!
Jaime Lyn Bauer Makes Salem Comeback
“…I shot 6 shows for Days of Our Lives in [the] beginning of December,” Bauer shared on Facebook. “Under COVID rules with 2 tests at the beginning of each workweek and one test every day after that. You come into the building, test then go back out and wait in your car until your test comes back negative and then they wave you back in.”
The actress adds that masks are worn everywhere. “Rehearsing your lines with another actor happens over the phone,” she adds. “Once you are called to your set, your mask can only be taken off once you are on your set and doing your camera rehearsal.
“We come into the studio already having done our own makeup and hair (to the best of our ability) as we can only be in a makeup or hair chair for 15 minutes!” Bauer reveals. “And they set timers! The strange new world of Hollywood! Anyway, the shows begin airing on February the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 9th, 10th and 11th.”
Bauer assumed the role of Dr. Laura Horton Spencer back in 1993. The part had been played before by Floy Dean (Deadman’s Curve), Susan Flannery (ex-Stephanie, The Bold and the Beautiful), Susan Oliver (Star Trek), and Rosemary Forsythe (ex-Sophia, Santa Barbara).
The character exited Salem in 1980 and was absent for 13 years until Bauer, best known for her run as Lorie on The Young and the Restless, assumed the part. The writers established that Laura had spent time in an institution after learning that her husband Bill (Chris Stone) had cheated on her with Kate Roberts (Lauren Koslow), resulting in their son Lucas (Bryan Dattilo). Days of our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for airtimes.
