This is not a drill and he’s not a ghost, a part of a re-created flashback, or a figment of anyone’s over-active imagination. It looks like reports of Jack Deveraux’s Days of Our Lives (DOOL) death have been greatly exaggerated as Matthew Ashford makes his return.
Yes, we know we saw Jack “die” on screen, but we’ve seen a lot of characters die on screen, yet they’re still alive.
According to the Jason47 DAYS website, Ashford is indeed back on the soap and sources say he’s been back for months, so it may not be long till we see him on our Salem screens.
Ashford has made several DAYS comebacks in the last two years. He was in Jennifer’s “dream” as she went through withdrawal from her pain pill addiction and also appeared to Abigail before she disappeared from the mental hospital and faked her death.
Last December, he appeared in newly-created flashbacks as JJ contemplated suicide and remembered some of the last moments he spent with his father.
Ashford has been playing Jack off and on since the 1990s as a flawed and troubled character, who raped wife, Kayla, but was eventually redeemed.
His romance with and subsequent marriages to Jennifer Horton helped transform him into an unlikely romantic hero.
Interestingly, news of his return coincides with news that Stephen Nichols has left the soap. As fans know, Jack and Steve are brothers and the actors share a unique chemistry.
As Soap Hub learns more about Jack’s return and how it comes to be, we will keep you informed.
