Drake Hogestyn joined Days of Our Lives (DOOL) in 1986, and chances are he had no idea he’d ever mark this incredible milestone.

According to the Jason47 Days Website, today will be Hogestyn’s 4,000th episode as John Black! This feat is a lot harder than you may think. In fact, there are only two other DAYS stars in its history who can claim this milestone — Deidre Hall (Marlena) and Kristian Alfonso (Hope).

During his over 30 years on and off the show, John has been known by many names it’s almost too hard to keep track.

He’s been The Pawn, Roman Brady, Forrest Alamain, Mr. Green (fake name used in an undercover operation), John Black DiMera (when he believed he was a DiMera), Father John Black (when he believed he was a priest), John Stevens (in Switzerland), and there were probably even more.

He’s had a son, Brady (Eric Martsolf), with Isabella, a daughter Belle (Martha Madison) with Marlena, and a son, Paul (Christopher Sean) with Tori, and has two grandchildren — Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) through Belle and Tate through Brady.

He has had countless affairs but through it all, Marlena has been his one constant, always making his way back to her. Some affairs occurred when he was brainwashed and others were when he thought Marlena had died or disappeared.

Despite being Salem’s ultimate good guy, he has crossed the line a few times. Under Stefano’s control, he was an art thief and tried to kill Marlena and Colleen Brady, bribed some people, arrested for corporate embezzlement and fraud (later exonerated), and lied about Brady having attacked him.

Through it all, Hogestyn has delighted his legion of fans, won himself many new ones, and thrilled the DAYS lovers over the last 4,000 episodes and 32 years that he’s been a part of Salem. Here’s to 4,000 more!

Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
