Days of Our Lives is about to get two new characters on the canvas as Lani has gone into labor! Will marriage and a family mean more or less story for the twins’ parents? Lamon Archey, who plays dad-to-be Eli, recently sat down with Soap Hub and a small group of reporters to preview what’s ahead for his character!

Lamon Archey: Ready For Elani Babies

“You’re going to get two babies,” Archey said. “One’s a boy, and one’s a girl. And they’re getting names!” The bad news is viewers will have to wait till next year to learn the infants’ names. The good news is they’ll learn the names on New Year’s Day!

Archey’s staying mum (pops?) on the names of Eli and Lani’s (Sal Stowers) newborns, however, he does tease that the names will have “special” significance. “They have weight,” he previews.

In addition to the new twins, there are other characters coming to Salem. Daytime Emmy winner Linda Dano, beloved as style icon Felicia Gallant from Another World, is going to sub for Louise Sorel as Vivian Alamain. Also, Jackee Harry, also a veteran of Another World (she played Lily Mason) is joining the show in an unnamed role.

Archey revealed that he’s going to be working with both women in the coming year! “Jackée hasn’t started yet,” Archey reveals. “Linda has started and she’ll be involved in a good story with Eli and Lani. I have had scenes with her.” Archey adds wryly, “Don’t tell anybody if I’m not supposed to [say]!”

As for Harry, he says, “I’m looking forward to [working with her]. She’s a wonderful, wonderful [talent]. She brings a big character to screen. There are good times ahead.”

While Eli’s going to be enjoying wedded bliss and doing diaper duty, he sees the future as being wide open in terms of having a dramatic story. “There’s lots of unchartered territory. Eli has never had to [fully] face being a father. This is new for him. Marriage is new to him. This is something I’ve never been able to play. It’s fun because it’s new.”

Speaking of those babies, is Archey working with real-life infants or will they be fake (like the plastic doll posing as a baby in the film American Sniper)? “Cabbage Patch Dolls,” replies Archey, adding tongue-in-cheek, “and they’re not cute.” (He’s kidding, folks).

Don’t miss the upcoming episodes in which Lani delivers her twins and the tots are named! Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
