The Days of our Lives recap for Monday, August 31, 2020, features Sonny and Will saying their final goodbyes and a fan favorite coming home. It’s a time of tears, heartbreak, and surprise for the most powerful players in town.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

Will (Chandler Massey) and Sonny (Freddie Smith) packed their bags and got ready to leave. But first, they had to tell the people they loved. Sonny sat Victor (John Aniston) down to break the news. It did not go well, at least not at first. Victor was quite accustomed to having the trio around and tried to get them to stay. However, Sonny was adamant so Victor gave the little family their blessing.

Will took to John’s bedside to say farewell to his grandparents. Marlena (Deidre Hall) was shocked. Not only was she facing losing John, but now her grandson was moving away. She did her best to hold her composure and slap on a smile. Then she said goodbye.

Welcome Back, Brady

As for John (Drake Hogestyn), he remained unconscious but stable. Marlena held vigil by his bedside and once again asked him to come back to her. He didn’t wake up but she got a lovely surprise anyway.

Marlena was not alone long before Brady (Eric Martsolf) walked into the room. Yes, he is back. There was no way he could stay overseas knowing his father is fighting for his life.

Xander Has It All Wrong

Meanwhile, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) spent their morning in bed, relishing their alone time and talking about work. Xander was looking forward to taking on the top spot at Titan. He did not have a care in the world, even with Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) back in town. He even noted how far the apple fell from the tree when it came to Victor’s son.

Xander was wrong. Very, very wrong. While Xander was busy getting (ahem) busy, Philip was gunning for his job. The prodigal son had a visit with Kate (Lauren Koslow) and told her he was going to demand his birthright. He wanted the Titan throne.

More Money, More Problems

Speaking of business, Justin (Wally Kurth) made a hotshot play ripping up Bonnie’s (Judi Evans) contract offer. She was devastated until she realized it was not a slight towards her. The publishing company was low balling and the legal eagle wanted her to get the big bucks. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
