The Days of our Lives recap for Wednesday, August 19, 2020, features John’s health woes, Sonny’s desire to take a leap of faith, and Philip stirring things up.

Days of our Lives Recap Highlights

Marlena (Deidre Hall) came home to find Sami (Alison Sweeney) hovering over John (Drake Hogestyn), and panicking. She sent Sami to call 911, then tried to revive her husband. Poor John was rushed to the hospital with Marlena riding beside him.

Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) stabilized John, then delivered the crushing blow: The man was in bad shape, and the doctor wasn’t sure if he would ever recover. He has a brain aneurysm and the prognosis isn’t good.

Let’s Get Moving!

Sonny (Freddie Smith) had big news for Will (Chandler Massey). He’d received a new job offer… in Arizona. Wait, isn’t that far away? Yes, yes, it is. It’s okay, though: He wants Will to go with him, and Ari, too. He’s even worked it all out in his head: Ari will spend the school year with them, and the summers with Gabi (Camila Banus). That sounds good, right? But will Gabi agree?

Xander Met His Match

Xander (Paul Telfer) did not let Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) get him down. It was off to the office to reclaim his spot and be the boss. Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) soon followed with balloons to celebrate. All was well… until she found out that Philip was home. Uh-oh.

Uh-oh, indeed. Victor (John Aniston) wanted to make up with his only living child, offering Philip anything he wanted. That would have been fine, except that Philip decided he wanted to run the company. Victor was stunned, but what was he to do? So it looks like Xander is out and Phillip is in.

Siblings Aren’t Always Friends

Belle (Martha Madison) and Shawn (Brandon Beemer) spent time in the square, talking about their families. Shawn hoped that his mom would get back together with Rafe (Galen Gering), and Belle felt sick of being in the middle of her siblings over the baby drama. They even talked about Philip, and how it was too bad that Shawn didn’t have a relationship with his brother anymore.

As luck would have it, Philip showed up in the square mere seconds after Belle had left. The brothers tried to catch up, but their conversation was awkward and strained. Philip made it clear that he was back to stake his claim on his legacy. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
