A lot of things have changed on Days of our Lives since the one-year time jump. Here is something that didn’t: Hattie is back. Deidre Hall is once again playing both refined and genteel Dr. Marlena Evans Black and her lookalike, lewd, crude, and loud Hattie.
Usually, Hattie showing up has meant that Marlena is about to be replaced — again. Now that Hattie and Eve (Kassie DePaiva) are putting their two devious heads together for a prison break, how long before John’s (Drake Hogysten) wife just isn’t herself again… while Princess Gina (Kristian Alfonso) hovers in the wings? Not Again!
For 53% of you, this is not the blast from the past you were hoping for. Stefano? OK. Steve (Stephan Nichols)? Definitely! But Hattie? Nobody remembers asking for Hattie. All her stories end up looking the same, and sometimes it’s downright painful watching Hall play the jailbird. Can’t we skip another year — and this storyline?
Hattie Is Hot!
Anything that takes Marlena down a peg or two is aces with 25% of Days of our Lives fans. You were not pleased with the high and mighty way Marlena was acting towards the woman she only knew was Hope when she got back on Monday. She deserves to have her life taken over. And to lose John, too! (We’re just kidding. We love Marlena and Hall.)

And then there is 22% of viewers who can’t summon up the energy to care one way or the other. Oh. Look. It’s Hattie again (said with about as much enthusiasm as Willie Wonka warning a child).
Yay? Nay? Does it matter at this point? We know DAYS has shot enough episodes to run through the summer. So it’s not like us having an opinion matters one way or another. Days of our Lives (DOOL) airs weekdays on NBC. Check your local listings for airtimes.
