It was just on June 27 that former Days of our Lives star, Peter Reckell, had to face the loss of his beloved father. The year previous, he faced the loss of his mother and a year before that, his onscreen mother, Peggy McCay, who played his character Bo Brady’s mom, Caroline. Now, the actor and his family have to deal with another loss.

Reckell’s wife Kelly Moneymaker broke the news on Facebook about their loss. “Our beloved, Dodger, left us today. He was a very special being and we are honored that he chose our family as his own. We’ve had many profound losses this year. We are devastated. Loden wrote his eulogy below. ✨🐾 💛🐾✨”
Loden is the couple’s 12-year-old daughter. This is the poem she wrote to honor her furbaby brother — and it’s easy to see the depth of her love and heartbreak in her beautiful words:

Your soft, deep, loving eyes
stare into my soul
leaving it all out on the floor
You find the kindness
in all hearts, including mine
You are a great teacher
of love, harmony, and peace

all those who have loved you
many years of happy memories
