It’s been less than a year since Kate Mansi departed her role as Days of our Lives’ Abigail Deveraux, but the Daytime Emmy-winning actress hasn’t forgotten her Salem family.
Kate Mansi Honors Melissa Reeves
Mansi, who last year appeared in the rom-com feature, The Office Mixup and the thriller Legend of the Muse, took to social media to send some love her former on-screen mom’s way.
On Instagram, the fan-favorite wished a Happy Birthday to Melissa Reeves, who celebrated her special day at home over the weekend, by recalling their first meeting.
“On my first day of work years ago my makeup artist at the time asked me how my wknd was and I shared I’d spent it up at my cabin and went on to describe it,” Mansi wrote. “It didn’t go unnoticed that my ‘mom’ was sitting in the chair next to me and we had briefly met but hadn’t yet really MET.”

Reeves was eavesdropping and joined in on the conversation. Coincidently, she had stayed at the cabin next door to the one Mansi was talking about and described how she had talked with a “very sweet, chatty man next door.”
Mansi added, “I knew instantly she was talking about my dad! Her family had stayed at the cabin next door to ours on a family vacation. That was the moment I knew without a doubt I was exactly where I was supposed to be, and @missyreeves would be my mamma for life.”
Mansi recalled another moment when she and Reeves were standing at the commissary salad bar together and Blake Levin came along and serendipity was at play again.
“She looked up at me saying ‘you just met your husband. And I can tell he dry cleans!'” Mansi shared. “(And then promptly approached him saying ‘Hi I’m her mamma Missy’ and then called his office on our lot to ask mutual friends if he ‘was a nice boy’.
