Marlena just survived being shot on Days of Our Lives, but her portrayer, Deidre Hall, has even more reason to celebrate!
That’s because she was born on October 31, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin — which means that on this spooky holiday she is turning 71 years old!
She also has a twin, Andrea, who appeared many times on DAYS. She graduated from Lake Worth Community High School and studied psychology before the acting bug put her on another path.
While it’s hard to imagine Salem without her, the actress wasn’t on the very first episode — but she was on the premiere episode of sister Sony soap, The Young and the Restless back in 1973.
It wasn’t until 1976 that she landed her legendary role of Marlena, a role she has played on and off ever since.
But before her budding soap opera career took off, she played the recurring role of Nurse Sally Lewis on Emergency! and starred as the title character in Electra Woman and Dyna Girl.
It was while playing Electra Woman that she met her future best friend Jane Elliot (ex-Tracy, General Hospital), who guest starred as a villainess.
During one of her breaks from DAYS, Hall starred in the primetime show Our House with a young Shannen Doherty. She also had a recurring role on Wiseguy as Claudia.
Hall co-wrote and executive produced her autobiographical movie of the week, Never Say Never, that helped raise social awareness about the miracle of surrogacy.
On the personal front, she became the spokeswoman for the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America after her father succumbed to the disease. But her greatest role may be that of mom to her two sons.
