The Days of Our Lives recap for Wednesday, January 23 features Jack telling Eve that he’s throwing his hat in the ring.
Eve (Kassie DePaiva) contemplated destroying Dr. Rolf’s diary so she could keep Jack to herself. Then, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) showed up looking for him and the two had words as usual. Jennifer blabbed about the diary, and Eve played dumb.
Jack (Matthew Ashford) agreed to a drink with JJ (Casey Moss) and told him he’s thinking of running for mayor. JJ opened up about almost killing Theo and then himself. Jack felt horrible.
JJ warned Jack that Eve is using him the way she used him. Jack was shocked that Eve seduced JJ just to get back at Jennifer. Jack apologized for not having been there for him and said he wants to make it up to him.
Later, Jack confronted Eve about sleeping with JJ and she reminded him that he slept with Jennifer’s mom. Jack then decided he’s definitely running for mayor. Cause that makes sense in America 2019.
Haley (Thia Megia) told Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) therapy is going well, but Kayla became concerned about Haley’s closeness to JJ. Haley then got to know Tripp (Lucas Adams) when she treated him for a burn at the hospital.

Melinda (Laura Kai Chen) gave Hope (Kristian Alfonso) and Eli (Lamon Archer) a hard time for letting Xander go. When Abe (James Reynolds) heard the commotion, and Melinda told Abe to fire Hope, Abe stood up for his friend and took responsibility.
Disgusted, Melinda let him have it. He warned her to watch her tone, but she quit. She later met up with Jennifer and gave her a scoop and probably told her all about the current mayor screwing up.
Eli asked Hope why Rafe took off to help Sami and Hope tried to explain but Eli slipped about Ted, showing Rafe confided in him.
Ted (Gilles Marini) surprised Kate (Lauren Koslow) when he asked to reunite. Kate laughed, turned him down flat and threw a drink in his face, which Hope witnessed.
