While walking the Daytime Emmys red carpet, actor Shawn Christian sure made it sounded like Daniel was on his way back to Days of Our Lives (DOOL) — possibly to help Arianne Zucker (Nicole) exit.
He’s been gone for almost two years now, though rarely a day passes by without someone remembering him, whether as Holly’s father, Brady’s (Eric Martsolf) heart donor, or as the guy Eric (Greg Vaughan) killed.
Also, Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) seems to miss him more than the kids she actually raised, Sarah and even Janice (let’s take a communal vow to pretend Summer never happened, K?).
So it would seem Salem is on board for Daniel’s return, but how about the viewers? Here’s what over 10,000 of you had to say!

Whether he’ll be playing Daniel or someone else, 95% of you are thrilled by the possibility of a Shawn Christian return. And if he isn’t going to be Daniel, maybe he can be a long-lost twin?

After all, Daniel was the result of one of Maggie’s eggs being stolen after she agreed to be a surrogate for Evan Wyland (that would have been Lane Davies, before he was Santa Barbara’s acerbic alcoholic, Mason; and for even more celebrity fun, his scheming dad was played by Robert Alda, father of M*A*S*H’s Alan Alda).
Of course, later it turned out that Maggie’s friend and doctor, Neil (Joe Gallison), actually had her impregnated with his own sperm, so he could spring the truth on her years later, after he’d fallen in love with her. No, he was not in love with her at the time.
He had no reason to do it at the time. But, anyway… Since Neil had no reason to lie to Maggie once, maybe he lied to her twice, and cloned her eggs, too. So the world could be full of more Dr. Daniel Jonases! That should really make the fans happy!
