Who Can Eli Date — When He’s Related To Most of Salem?

On Days of Our Lives, Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) was sobbing about the loss of her son, David. (Who remembers the last time she mentioned David, that is outside of right before he died, so that viewers could be reminded he existed?)

But her grief turned to joy when she learned that Valerie (Vanessa Williams) had borne David’s son, Eli (Lamon Archey). Julie is convinced that, had David known about Eli, his life would have been much less aimless, and he would still be alive today. (The fact that David had a son he did know about, Scotty, and that didn’t quench his restlessness one iota, is irrelevant to Julie.)

Look Around
So now we have gorgeous, upstanding officer of the law Eli in Salem. This is a good thing. He can act, he’s a member of a core family, and now all he needs is a love interest.

Except they’re a teensy, weensy problem. Due to that whole Member of a Core Family Thing, Eli is related to practically everyone in town.

Everything is Relative
Hope (Kristian Alfonso), Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), Abigail (Marci Miller), and Claire (Olivia Rose Keegan) are off the table, being Hortons. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) are otherwise occupied.

All the Single Ladies
So whom does that leave? Nicole (Arianne Zucker) and Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) are deep in Baby Mama Drama. Kate (Lauren Koslow) has no problem with younger men, but how young would she go? Belle (Martha Madison) comes and goes from town — and Shawn. Adrienne (Judi Evans) is working on getting over cancer. Gabi (Camilla Banus) can’t see beyond Chad (Billy Flynn) at the moment.

So that narrows it down to…. Lani (Sal Stowers). Didn’t Daddy Abe (James Reynolds) just give JJ (Casey Moss) a polite, “You’re a nice guy, but not for my daughter” talking to? Abe thinks his daughter deserves a different sort of man.

Someone like Eli, perhaps?

Hmm, let’s see. JJ and Eli are both single (as far as we know), they’re both on the side of truth, justice and the American way (as far as we know). So what could be that one, key difference between Eli and JJ that Abe just can’t articulate, but feels would be best for his daughter?
