The Days of Our Lives (DOOL) recap for Monday, September 18 has Abby reaching out to her best friend to make sure she’s okay and Lucas opening up to his dead son about his pain in this very emotional episode.

Friendship Crisis
Abigail (Marci Miller) knows that Gabi (Camila Banus) is aware they’re having a double wedding with Sonny and Paul, and she knows how much it must be hurting her friend. She lets her know how happy she is that Ari will be a flower girl, but also that she understands the cost.

Gabi appreciated Abby understanding and they reaffirm their friendship. This was a triangle with no bad guy but still a great deal of pain. Abby perked up to hear that Eli (Lamon Archey) offered to escort Gabi — perhaps the healing process has already begun.

Prodigal Son Returns?
Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) was shocked to see Will (Chandler Massey), even though he knew he was just an image that he conjured up. Even so, Will was pretty disgusted with his father’s fall off the wagon and was devastated when he chose the bottle over listening to him.

When Lucas wanted to make it up to his son and ran towards him, he ended up falling and knocking his head on one of the pews, rendering himself unconscious.

To The Rescue
Kate (Lauren Koslow) agreed to listen to Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), who was just worried about her daughter becoming a DiMera again. Kate let her know about Lucas’s drinking, which Jennifer admitted she already knew. Abby then arrived to say Lucas needs them.

When Kate and Jennifer got to the church, they found Lucas unconscious and with a bottle nearby. Both women were beside themselves as they cradled him, wanting to help.

Haunted By the Past
Lucas’s tongue-lashing made quite an impression on Sonny (Freddie Smith). He confided in Chad (Billy Flynn) about his conflicted feelings about Will while Paul (Christopher Sean) confided in JJ (Casey Moss). Eventually, Sonny and Paul realized they need to talk about Will — before the wedding.
