Buh Bye, Orpheus – The Terrible Trio Are No More

It’s been a harrowing couple of months on Days of Our Lives, thanks to the antics of The Terrible Trio.

Today it all ended as Orpheus (George DelHoyo) took his own life, and with it, any hope we have of hearing more of his witty asides and observations about the people of Salem. Sure, he was dangerous and tried to kill some of our favorites, but he could always be counted on for a laugh. Whether he was simply searching for words to fill in a crossword puzzle or insulting those around him, he added a lot of fun to the doom and gloom that has plagued Salem and Days of Our Lives for over a year.

Those Smart Cops
So how did this happen after he was in police custody? You have to love the Salem Police Department, don’t you? Here they have the worst villain they’ve seen since Stefano in custody and they put just one green cop in there to guard him. They deny him medical attention except for the woman he’s voiced on multiple occasions that he wants to kill. So Marlena (Deidre Hall) doesn’t tell John that she’s going in there to help Orpheus – she just does it. And as a surprise to absolutely no one – he gets the upper hand.

Won’t Be Taken Alive
Considering he did this in a crowded police station, it was looking like Orpheus was hoping to commit suicide-by-cop, unwilling to go back to prison for the rest of his life. Lucky for him, he didn’t need to waste any more bullets since Marlena’s handy little black bag housed the answer to his dreams. All he needed to do was take it, and then kill Marlena in order to fulfill his fondest wish. We especially loved it when he voiced his big regret was letting her play mom to his kids – ooooh, that had to hurt!

One Last Failure
Here he was, nearing the end and feebly waving a gun at Marlena – and what does she do? Does she move, trying to make it harder for him to focus and aim? Nah, not our resident brain shrinker. She decides to make it as easy as possible by never moving a muscle as he takes aim. It’s only dumb luck that the poison worked faster than Orpheus. Alas, he passed away and now all the residents in Salem are safe again until the next nutjob passes through.

And right on time, Guillermo arrives tomorrow. Smashing.
