When news broke that Shawn Christian was leaving Days of Our Lives in 2015, all reports pointed to the departure being the actor’s choice.
Now, girlfriend Arianne Zucker (Nicole, DAYS) gives a completely different account of what happened.
Speaking about his departure to Soap Opera Digest, Zucker said she was really surprised he exited the show before she did.
“I was really shocked, I have to say. Not just for the fact that we were working together at the time, but I was surprised he was the one to go,” she said in the March 13 issue. “I read in some places that he left on his own accord. Uh, no he didn’t. He was fired. He did not leave on his own accord. I wasn’t happy about it.”

Christian’s exit was announced in June of 2015, but he aired until early January and then the character died in a New Year’s Eve three-car pileup caused by a drunk driving Eric (Greg Vaughan).
Nicole has been crying about Daniel’s death ever since, but now that Zucker is also leaving the soap, we hope Nicole can find some happiness outside Salem and move on without Daniel and with their daughter.
