With DiMera Enterprises being run by his brother, EJ dusted off his law degree and accepted the Days of our Lives District Attorney job from Mayor Paulina Price, who only knows how to do her job via nepotism. His most recent legal decision was to have Tate arrested, blaming him for Holly’s overdose, and insisting that he be tried as an adult. Because, somehow, this would help Holly come out of her coma.
EJ DiMera: Conflict Of Interest
Then again, he’s a lawyer, not a doctor. But, should he even be that? Brady (Eric Martsolf) tried to get Paulina (Jackée Harry) to fire him. Paulina acted surprised that Brady thought she might make her decisions based on those kinds of political shenanigans. The question still stands, does EJ deserve to keep his appointed position?
Better Than Nothing
EJ may be using his role as DA to prosecute people he doesn’t like. But so did his predeccessor, Melinda Trask (Tina Huang). Melinda also wasn’t independently wealthy. Which means she was vulnerable to bribery. EJ, at least, is filthy rich. He might be vindictive, but, at least, he can’t be bought. Who else could Paulina find equally as untouchable?

So Bad It’s Good
Of course, EJ is a bad District Attorney. But he’s a fun one. He’s bad for Salem, but he’s good for DAYS. An upstanding civil servant might look for silly things like means, motive, opportunity, and evidence before having a suspect arrested. That doesn’t make for very interesting television. No, EJ is precisely where he needs to be.
Conflict of Interest
Except that all of EJ’s convictions are going to be overturned on appeal. That’s not good for Salem. Sure, Tate (Jamie Martin Mann) might not be guilty. But what about real criminals? Paulina can’t allow EJ’s grudges to taint all her “tough on crime” posturing and pandering.
