This Isn’t How We Fundraise, Days of our Lives

Here are some tips for next time.

Days of our Lives threw a fundraiser this week to help save Salem Hospital. We understand why the hospital is in trouble. Think of all the lawsuits they defend against — and lose — regularly over the botched DNA tests, the leaked private health information, the homicidal doctors, and the people who keep popping up again after having been declared dead.

It’s amazing they have any money left to pay doctors and buy tongue depressors, especially now that Body & Soul isn’t paying to take over their empty halls. (The halls are presumably empty because who would trust or go to a hospital full of botched DNA tests, leaked private health information, homicidal doctors, and people who keep popping up again after having been declared dead.) No wonder they needed to raise money some other way. They simply went about it incorrectly.

Size Matters

Folks like Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), Xander (Paul Telfer), Chad (Billy Flynn), and Cat (AnnaLynne McCord) milling about outside are trying to convince us that the carnival games are hopping. However, we couldn’t help but notice that Cat had no line for her face-painting booth, and she was able to spend all her time with Thomas, Charlotte, and, of course, Chad.

We’d say the same about Rachel winning all the prizes, but she’s Rachel, we’re sure she bullied and blackmailed her way into victory, the same way she does everything else. (Hey, remember how she was responsible for Ava’s [Tamara Braun] kidnapping and near-death? What an adorable moppet!)

Bigger is Always Better

But it was the bachelor auction that proved truly tragic. Where was the audience? There were, what, five strangers there, tops? The bachelors outnumbered the bidders!

Sure, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) finally said something about the process being moved online, but that was right before the final bachelor, Chad, showed up. Previously, if Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) hadn’t bought herself Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) to piss off JJ (Casey Moss), and if Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) hadn’t bid one million for Chad, they’d have been lucky to earn enough money to cover the cost of Kayla’s microphone.

And with that, why all the expense and work of setting up a carnival, when you could just hit up your friendly, neighborhood billionaires and call it a day? Until your next hospital scandal.
