Days of our Lives sent Dr. Rolf packing the other day, following Lexie’s death, which alluded to his time in Salem being up for the foreseeable future. However, the Peacock soap also had him exit with a major cliffhanger that likely signals more returns down the road. Dr. Rolf said goodbye to three glowing pods in the hospital’s basement. Now fans are giving their two cents on who is on ice.

Key Takeaways

  • The faces at the top of DAYS fans list.
  • Another name is thrown in the mix.
  • One person who can’t be in the pods, even though fans think he might be.

The Most Obvious Choices

It’s Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton), so the possibilities of who is in the pods are honestly endless, with a few obvious ones sticking out. One Reddit thread shared thoughts on those choices, including Lexie (Nikki Crawford).

Yes, she literally just died, but EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel) clocked Dr. Rolf wheeling a gurney in the hospital right after Lexie died. That’s really the only reason she was thrown in the mix. After all, a moment like that with Dr. Rolf and EJ doesn’t happen without meaning.

Peter (Dan Gauthier) was another popular choice. Remember, Peter died after keeping his siblings and nephew hostage in the DiMera crypt. However, Dr. Rolf had a hand in his death, and again, he wouldn’t do that without reason.

Another popular choice was Abigail (Marci Miller). The character has been dead for four years. It’s about time she comes back from the dead. Let’s be honest, Chad (Conner Floyd) has moved on, and Jack (Matthew Ashford) has made amends with Gwen (Emily O’Brien), so the timing for an Abigial return really couldn’t be more perfect.

DAYS fans think that Stefan (Brandon Barash) is a possibility. In theory, he could be, but honestly, based on how he was killed off-screen, it seems unlikely. Plus, Stefan already died once and was brought back to life by Dr. Rolf. It’s very been-there, done-that.

Stefano (Joseph Mascolo) is always an option. Listen, there is no replacing Mascolo as Stefano, that is for sure. However, it wouldn’t be too far-fetched for DAYS to bring back a version of Stefano or something along those lines. Then again, it could be the real deal. Fans don’t want a recast, but the show did it with Lexie, so Stefano can’t be ruled out.

Why This Person Likely Isn’t in a Pod

The name Devlin St. John (John Oliver) was mentioned multiple times in the Reddit thread. Rita (Maggie Carney) did put Devlin in a pod after he tried to extort EJ over the Coriseal situation.

It was her way of getting rid of him without actually killing him. Rita drugged him, but he wasn’t technically dead. Rita went that route becasue she had a crush on Devlin. She even kissed him before she closed up the pod.

EJ’s right-hand woman admitted, while talking to a comatose Devlin, that he was off to paradise, implying he was headed to the DiMera island. Plus, Dr. Rolf didn’t even know about Devlin, so it’s very unlikely he is in one of the three pods.

Also, the way Dr. Rolf said goodbye to the pods made it clear that whoever was inside meant something deeply to him. Devlin doesn’t fit that scenario at all.
