Days of our Lives introduced fans to Mason, and a couple of things were clear from the jump. Mason comes across as a nice guy based on his interactions with Julie and Lani. However, the new guy instantly made it clear that he has an issue with Holly of all people.

Key Takeaways

  • Mason just brought a new mystery to Salem.
  • Holly’s name set him off.
  • What is Mason’s beef with Holly?

The New Guy In Salem

Mason (Brandon Butler, who revealed why his new job is extra special to him) strolled into Horton Town Square looking for textbooks from Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes). The interaction was sweet until something in the young man shifted.

Holly (Ashley Puzemis) was on hand, so Julie introduced them as classmates based on the textbook Mason was buying. When Holly extended her hand for a proper introduction, Mason’s body language and demeanor changed.

Instantly, he folded his arms as he told Holly, using her full name that they had already met and walked away in a huff. If that wasn’t bad enough, later, Holly was almost mugged, but Lani (Sal Stowers) saved her.

Mason came across the incident immediately after and showed concern for Lani the second he arrived. Holly took notice and made a snide comment, which Mason ignored before he left the scene after barely acknowledging Holly’s existence.

The History Between Holly and Mason

There’s no question that Mason isn’t a Holly fan. In fact, he can’t seem to stand her, despite DAYS fans never having seen them interact before. DAYS just created an intriguing mystery around Mason and his beef with Holly.

Although her name triggered something for him, Mason didn’t seem to recognize her before her name was revealed. That alludes to the fact that Mason has an issue with Holly, despite not knowing her.

For Mason to completely ignore Holly following the mugging speaks volumes. Even in a situation where she could have been gravely hurt, Holly got no sympathy or compassion from Mason.

The question is, why the hostility toward Holly? Perhaps Holly and Mason have met before, and she doesn’t remember their history. That seems unlikely, though, given that Mason didn’t recognize Holly until her name was mentioned.

One scenario is that Mason is somehow connected to Holly’s father, Daniel (Shawn Christian). Maybe a child he never knew about, and that’s why Mason has such an issue with Holly. It would give Mason a connection to Salem through Maggie (Suzanne Rogers), his grandmother.

Then again, Mason’s issue could involve EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel), because, let’s be honest, all roads lead back to EJ. The timing of Mason being so hostile toward Holly comes as she learned what her former stepdad did to her, and, thanks to Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), EJ knows his secret could be exposed. Maybe Mason is somehow going to do EJ’s dirty work, or he has an issue with EJ that has to do with Holly and her past.
