As far as most citizens of Days of our Lives are concerned, Philip Kiriakis is dead. And, for a while, there was nothing for him to return for. His mother was dead, and the woman he loved and obsessed over was in a relationship with the guy Philip tried to frame for his murder. However, now Kate is back among the living, and Chloe is footloose and fancy-free. So is it time for Philip to come home?
DAYS: All in the Family
Kate (Lauren Koslow) arranged for Philip (Jay Kenneth Johnson) to be sequestered in a mental institution rather than sent to jail for his crimes. So we presume she also has the power to get Philip sprung and rehabilitated. He can arrive home as a conquering hero. Who would look sideways at a boy thrilled his mommy is still alive?

Chloe (Nadia Bjorlin) still loving Brady (Eric Martsolf) was what drove Philip over the edge in the first place. He couldn’t have come back while they were still together. But now that demon seed Rachel (Finely Rose Slater) has driven a wedge between them, Philip might think he has a chance with Chloe again. It’s not like she could fall for Xander (Paul Telfer). They only live together, work together, and she gets a front-row seat to all his shirtless strutting around. What woman would be impressed with that?

And let’s not forget Philip has one more option in Salem. There’s Belle (Martha Madison), too. Sure, she’s married to Shawn (Brandon Beemer). But we’ve already seen him push her away while he processes shooting Bo (Peter Reckell). Philip can be a shoulder for a lonely Belle to cry on. And then we’ll see what happens next. After all, it’s happened before.
