From the moment Bo Brady was first revealed to be alive on Days of our Lives, viewers knew it was only a matter of time before he and his Fancy Face were reunited. Megan could babble about how they belong together, and Bo could babble about how he was a Kiriakis now with no connection to his past life as a Brady, but we knew those were just words.

Hope (Kristian Alfonso) knew it, too. When Bo (Peter Reckell) told her he didn’t love her anymore, she came with an exasperated, “What’s the matter with you?” Which is what all the viewers were thinking too. When Bo took Hope to the edge of a cliff and pointed a gun at her, she knew he wouldn’t do it. (And not only because the cliff and ocean below were some painfully bad green-screen action.) Hope kept talking and talking, and reminding him of their love. Eventually, Bo remembers. And how!
Bo Brady and Hope: Days of our Lives Love
Finally, flashbacks, glorious flashbacks! Hope and Bo in New Orleans (before they knew better than to hang out at Southern plantations)! Hope and Bo on their boat! Hope and Bo in various beds in various places. (The original exterior shots made the current CGI look even worse in comparison, so extra kudos to the show for being brave enough to show them anyway.) And then Hope and Bo during Shawn’s birth — just before their son put a bullet in Dad’s back.
Days of our Lives: Truly, Madly, Deeply
This was classic soap, in all the best senses of the word. We got true love, we got a blast from the past, and then a dramatic ending. Steve (Stephen Nichols) shooting Bo would have been bad. Shawn (Brandon Beemer) doing it is even worse. By which we mean better for viewers. Welcome back, Bo!
