After more than a year of keeping his murderous secret (for the most part), Joey has to finally say what he hasn’t wanted to say on Days of Our Lives (DOOL).
He killed Ava (Tamara Braun), the mother of his newly-found half-brother. It’s something he never, ever wanted Tripp (Lucas Adams) to know, but now he feels he has no choice.
Thanks for Jade, Tripp has believed Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) is the culprit for months and set up this entire revenge plot to ruin her career.
When that doesn’t work, he takes her at gunpoint, according to the August 14 issue of Soap Opera Digest.
Kayla realizes all Tripp wants at this point is a confession, so she gives him one and says yes, she did kill Ava.

That’s when Joey ends the “Who Broke Mom’s Favorite Vase?” story and comes forward–devastating Tripp.
According to Digest, Tripp is stunned because Joey was becoming his friend and was the brother he wished he’d always had. Learning this brother killed his own mother is hard to accept.
This revelation at least gets Kayla out of danger, but Tripp’s still one revenge-minded guy and just might go after Joey.
With James Lastovic off the show by the end of this month, we sure hope nothing tragic happens that could destroy both of Steve’s sons. We guess we’ll have to tune in to find out.
