The late Mickey Horton took on a lot of legal cases on Days of Our Lives, but not quite like this one! The NBC soap is embroiled in a legal battle against Sony Pictures Television, the studio that produces the series, and reportedly, tens of millions of dollars are at stake!

Deadline broke the story that Corday Productions is accusing Sony and its divisions — Columbia Pictures and Screen Gems — of omitting DAYS from airing in international markets in favor of the other soap it produces, The Young and the Restless!

Attorneys Pierce O’Donnell, Dan Stone and Joshua Geller from Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger, the firm representing Corday Productions (which owns DAYS), allege Sony engaged in ‘treachery’ resulting in DAYS not being seen overseas, reducing revenue.

Per Deadline: DAYS’ domestic ratings have remained “largely consistent” but Sony’s “distribution receipts have decreased by over 50%.”

The suit goes on to state: “In the annals of Hollywood television, it is difficult to identify a distributor more guilty of blatant conflict of interest, deceit, perfidy, and abuse of market power.

“The only effective remedies are massive compensatory and punitive damages and immediate termination Sony’s exclusive, perpetual distribution agreement.”

Per the suit, DAYS is currently not seen in “key foreign territories, including England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Canada, France, Zambia, and South Africa.”

The attorney for DAYS is looking forward to the show’s day in court.

“We can’t wait to present this damning evidence to a Los Angeles jury,” the lawyer for the show has said. “Everyone loves a good David versus Goliath story.”
