As more and more Days of Our Lives pass, Sami’s (Alison Sweeney) absence becomes both more and less noticeable.
On the one hand, other schemers like Deimos (Vincent Irizarry) and Dario (Jordi Vilasuso) have taken her place. On the other hand, can anyone really take Sami’s place?
There’s no schemer like a homegrown schemer, whom viewers saw born on the air and watched grow up. So should Alison Sweeney return to Salem? Over 3,000 of you weighed in.
Wham! We Want Sam!
It really wasn’t a contest. It seems 80% of fans were adamant in their cry of, “Yes!” Her family needs her! Marlena (Deidre Hall) needs someone to lecture now that Belle (Martha Madison) is out, and Eric (Greg Vaughan) will certainly feel better about his own sins when he’s standing next to his twin.
If her kids grow quickly like Sami did, Johnny, Allie and Sydney must be teens by now, and one of them should be getting in touch with their DiMera side. Most importantly, though, Salem just ain’t the same without her….

In and Out
The fans get it. Sweeney is busy. She’s got reality shows, she’s got commercials, she’s got Murder, She Baked TV movies.
But 12% still believe she could pop in and out once in a while. Maybe just to stir the pot, get the entire town in a tizzy, and then skip out again. It would be the best of both worlds!
On an As Needed Basis
Finally, for 7% of viewers, Sami just coming back isn’t enough. They only want her back if the story calls for it — and it better be a good one.
Sami wandering around town with nothing to do is not the way they want to remember her, so, if that’s the case, she’s better off remaining AWOL.
