First Look at Little House on the Prairie Reboot
It’s no secret that Halsey left DAYS to take on the role of Laura Ingalls, following in the footsteps of Melissa Gilbert. Halsey posted the Little House on the Prairie trailer to her Instagram to tease her latest gig.
Halsey narrates the trailer that shows the Ingalls making a new life for themselves on the Prairie. “Once upon a time, Ma and Pa and Mary and Laura left the Big Woods of Wisconsin and moved to the prairie, where a new life was waiting for them. Every day and every night was an adventure. And even though they were all alone, and very small against the sky and the stars, they were happy. Because they were a family, and they were together,” she declares.
The young star captures Laura’s midwestern accent perfectly, with a slight twang. Halsey seems made for the role, fitting right into the period and lighting up as Laura takes in her new life.
Little House on the Prairie also stars Luke Bracey (Charles), Crosby Fitzgerald (Caroline), and Skywalker Hughes (Mary). The reboot not only follows the books based on the real Laura Ingalls Wilder but also the TV show, which ran from 1974 to 1983.
Several of Halsey’s former DAYS co-stars popped into the comments to sing her praises. Dan Feuerriegel (EJ) made a joke about her being “trigger happy” because Rachel shot his alter ego EJ, but he did leave plenty of emojis to make it clear he was kidding.
Cherie Jimenez (Gabi) called the trailer “Amazing” while Halsey’s former on-screen dad Eric Martsolf (Brady) left a heart emoji for her.
Fans will have to wait a little longer to see Halsey in her new role. Little House on the Prairie drops on Netflix on July 9.
