Last year when executives at The CW were putting together a five-part “Crisis” crossover tying together their lineup of superhero series they reached out to actors who had played superheroes from the DC Universe on other series. We saw actors from Batman and The Flash, but where were actors from Superboy, which starred, among others, Days of Our Lives actress Stacy Haiduk (Kristen) as Superboy’s Lana Lang?
Stacy Haiduk: Superhero Gold
“I love all the superhero shows,” Haiduk shared with TV Insider. “I’ve peeked in on them once in a while. I actually don’t own a television. But it would be so much fun to do a guest spot on one of them. I would love to play a villain. That’s right up my alley. I love being physical and dramatic.”
Haiduk played Lana Lang on Superboy, the live-action syndicated series which ran from 1988-92. While two different actors portrayed the part of Superboy/Clark Kent (John Haymes Newton; Gerard Christopher), Haiduk’s Lang was a constant, appearing in all 100 (!) episodes of the series that told the adventures of a young Superman.
She’s not the only DAYS star who has a tie to the DC Universe. Haiduk’s leading man in Salem, Eric Martsolf (Brady), brought to life the outgoing hero Booster Gold in a Smallville episode titled Booster in 2011. Martsolf’s turn on that series reunited him with former Passions pal Justin Hartley who starred on Smallville as Green Arrow/Oliver Queen. (On Passions, Martsolf was Ethan; Hartley was Fox.)
So when will Haiduk turn up on a CW show? I’m asked about [guesting on a CW show] by Superboy fans,” the actress shares. “They want to know when I’m going to do it, but I tell them it’s not my choice! It would be nice if one of the shows were to call and ask.” Fingers crossed it someday happens; in the meantime, catch Haiduk on DAYS! Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC.
