Who Did This Little Cowboy Hat-Wearing Girl Grow Up To Play On Soaps?

Soaps Childhood Flashback

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but we wonder what good is a picture when you can’t recognize the subject? Above is a snapshot of a future star of soaps, but can you guess who this little cowboy hat-wearing girl grew up to be?

Star Of The Soaps

Obviously, this young woman (now all grown up) is either currently starring in, or is an alum of, one of the four remaining daytime dramas – The Bold and the Beautiful, Days of our Lives, General Hospital, and The Young and the Restless – but that’s probably not enough of a hint.

So try these on for size. She is a soap hopper. She is a Daytime Emmy Award winner. She is an accomplished singer/songwriter with a published album. She has done voice work for animated TV shows. And she is married to a fellow thespian.

But just who can she be? Is this a photograph of Adrienne Frantz (ex-Amber Moore, B&B), Kassie DePaiva (ex-Eve Donovan, DAYS), Maura West (Ava Jerome Cassadine, GH), or Sharon Case (Sharon Collins Newman, Y&R)?

Kassie DePaiva

DePaiva certainly checks most of the boxes. She’s appeared in four soaps – Guiding Light (ex-Chelsea Reardon), One Life to Live and GH (ex-Blair Cramer Manning), and DAYS – and she married James DePaiva, her OLTL co-star. She’s also released three CDs full of music. However, she hasn’t voiced an animated character… yet.

What do you think? Post a comment!

Maura West

Aside from her work on GH, West is also known for playing Carly Tenney Snyder on As the World Turns (during which time she won two Daytime Emmy awards) and Diane Jenkins on Y&R. But though she’s married to a former soap alum, Scott DeFreitas (ex-Andy, ATWT), West isn’t a published songstress and she hasn’t lent her pipes to a cartoon character.

Sharon Case

With roles in GH (ex-Dawn Winthrop), ATWT (ex-Debbie Simon), and Y&R, Case can certainly be described as a soap hopper. And her work on the latter serial did result in a win at the 1999 Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony. However, she isn’t today’s featured star.

Adrienne Frantz

After packing her bags and relocating from Michigan to New York City, Frantz launched her acting career. Work in numerous commercials sustained her before she was offered the opportunity to join the inaugural cast of Aaron Spelling’s daytime effort Sunset Beach.

Roughly six months later, she left in order to originate the character of Amber Moore on B&B – a character she would eventually carry over to Y&R. Frantz’s other acting credits include voice-only work in two Nickelodeon series: The Wild Thornberrys and Rugrats.

So, if you guessed that the future star of soaps seen in the image above was Frantz – who won a Daytime Emmy for her work on BB and whose musical offerings can be enjoyed via 2007’s Anomaly album – then you were absolutely correct!
