For the first 25 years of The Bold and the Beautiful (BB), the driving relationship of the soap was the one between Stephanie Forrester and Brooke Logan. As Stephanie fought to keep her marriage intact, she chose Brooke as an unlikely ally.
Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) first came into Stephanie’s life and home as a helper for her mom Beth’s catering service. Stephanie (Susan Flannery) was pleasant enough to her caterer’s daughter, not knowing she had her romantic sights on Ridge.
Later, after Brooke began dating Ridge, Stephanie learned that Eric was seeing his ex-college sweetheart Beth (aka Liz Henderson). The Forrester matriarch had an objective: save her marriage! She knew that if Ridge ever learned his father was involved with Brooke’s mom, he’d leave her in a minute out of loyalty to his mother.
Brooke shot back that Beth had known Eric first and that Stephanie had to get pregnant (with Ridge) to take him away! Refusing to be deterred, Steph’s response was to slap Brooke, snarling, “That’s enough of that!”

When Brooke asked why Stephanie was being so mean, the Forrester matriarch shot back, as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, “You mean you haven’t figured it out yet? I’m trying to save my marriage! That’s why you’re here, little girl!”
