Today, on The Bold and the Beautiful women fight over whose portrait will hang in a place of honor over the Forrester fireplace. But for decades, the only matriarch in the house was Stephanie Douglas Forrester!
Stephanie (Susan Flannery) preferred to control any big issues in life, and she led a relatively stress-free existence. While a cloud of malaise had crept into her marriage with Eric (John McCook), Steph certainly didn’t want to lose him or see her family dismantled.
Naturally, she grew concerned when she learned Eric was seeing his old college flame Liz Henderson.

Stephanie had some Northwestern University yearbooks sent to her home so she could peruse them and get a look at her competition. Initially, Steph failed to recall who Liz was. As the scene progressed, viewers weren’t sure if the Forrester matriarch would connect the dots.
As Steph looked intently at the black and white photos in the yearbook, she slowly started to realize that the college student whom Eric knew as “Liz” was, in reality, Beth Logan (Nancy Burnett) — Brooke’s mother and a caterer who’d been in her very home!
