Actors are lucky to create one memorable soap opera character, but Don Diamont has achieved this amazing feat not just once but twice! And now, he’s celebrating a big anniversary related to his role as Bill Spencer on The Bold and the Beautiful!
It was 10 years ago that Diamont, a fan favorite courtesy of his run as Brad Carlton on The Young and the Restless, joined the show in the role of Bill Spencer, Jr., the son of the character played by original B&B cast member Jim Storm (ex-Bill).
Diamont and his assertive alter-ego, not always affectionately referred to as ‘Dollar Bill,’ were just what B&B needed! Bill quickly established himself as an Alpha Dog, a man who could go up against any of the show’s heavy hitters!
B&B furthered its commitment to Bill by giving him not just one, but two sons: Liam (Scott Clifton) and Wyatt (Darin Brooks).
In addition to romancing Brooke, Bill has sparred with ex-flame Quinn (Rena Sofer), who’s Liam’s mom, and has shared an on-again/off-again (which appears to be headed towards being back on!) with Katie, played by Heather Tom.
As powerful as Bill can be, Diamont showed the character has a sensitive side, too, as evidenced in his scenes with his and Katie’s son Will (Finnegan George).
Bill is a man who goes for what he wants and, at times, he goes too far such as when he blew up Spectra Fashions with Liam and Sally (Courtney Hope) still inside!
Last year, Bill amassed quite a few enemies. On a dark and windy night, someone crept into his house and shot him! The surprise shooter turned out to be Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo)!
Diamont recounted in his 2018 memoir, My Seven Sons and How We Raised Each Other:(They Only Drive Me Crazy 30% of the Time), about his move from Y&R to B&B and candidly shared many other details about his life.
Soap Hub joins Diamont’s fans in congratulating the actor on a decade of playing Bill and we look forward to seeing him play the part for many more years to come!
