The Bold And The Beautiful star Darin Brooks thanked his social media followers on social media for sending him birthday wishes but the actor shared that his special day was, alas, filled with heartache along with joy.
Brooks, who plays Wyatt on the half-hour soap, took to Instagram to share that he and his wife Kelly Kruger (ex-Mac, The Young And The Restless) had to say goodbye to their beloved dog Maddy, who passed away at the age of 17.
“She was a character,” Brooks wrote eloquently of the family dog. “Strong, loving, sometimes ornery and had a ‘won’t take no for an answer’ spunk (especially when it came to food)… But she was 1…and was only in my life for 10 of them but still, she was my lil one.
“Back in the day, Kelly lost a dog to cancer back when Maddy was just a puppy. And one day Kelly was crying and sad over losing this dog, and Maddy took it upon herself to gather all of this late dog’s old toys around the house… and literally place them in front of Kelly on the floor in the shape of a smiley face!
“That’s the type of girl she was! She hated seeing mom sad or upset… She wanted to be held and wanted to be around us all the time.”
While Maddy’s loss is something to mourn, as anyone who has ever lost a beloved pet can relate to, Brooks urges those with sad hearts not to be sad about losing her because Maddy would want everyone to be happy!
In the comments section of Brooks’ post, Kruger posted, “I love you so much babe. This is the best way to remember our little Mads. You were the absolute best daddy to her!!” You can read his full post below.
Soap Hub joins Brooks and Kruger’s family, friends, and fans in sending heartfelt sympathy to the couple, and thanks to Brooks for sharing such an emotional part of his and Kruger’s lives.
