The Bold and the Beautiful recap for Friday, January 5 featured Bill failing to reach Liam while Steffy found an unlikely friend in Katie.
Spoon River
Bill (Don Diamont) had Liam (Scott Clifton) in a bear hug from behind to keep him from lashing out physically. He let go at Liam’s request, but then Liam blasted his father for his betrayal. Bill kept saying he’s sorry and that he (clearly) hadn’t learned anything.
Girlfriends
Steffy (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) told Katie (Heather Tom) to leave but she refused. Katie said she doesn’t mean to jump to conclusions because she saw a paternity test. Steffy asked: how do you think I know Liam’s not coming back?
Coming Clean
Steffy said the baby is Liam’s and told Katie there was just one other possibility. Katie said everyone makes mistake, noting that Liam himself went back and forth for years between Steffy and Hope. Maybe it’s his turn to forgive? From Steffy’s reaction after Katie mentions Bill, Katie realized Bill was the other paternity candidate.
Faceoff
Bill admitted he betrayed Liam, but said that shouldn’t stop him from forgiving Steffy because she’s carrying his baby. Bill asked Liam to hit him as many times as he wanted to. Liam refused.

The Truth Is Out
Katie was torn between wanting to support Steffy and being affected by what she and Bill did to Liam. She told Steffy she shouldn’t be alone and Steffy said she’s going to be alone a lot. Steffy asked Katie to stay silent and she quietly agreed.
Family Duty
Bill urged Liam to be the father that neither he nor his grandfather ever were. Liam yanked off his Spencer necklace. While holding it, he squeezed his palm and the tiny sword draws blood. Bill begged for forgiveness, getting down on his knees. Liam used his palm to rub the blood on his father’s face, and then he walked out as Bill asked, “What have I done?”
